Following India’s attacks on Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir on May 6 and 7, Turkiye has once again demonstrated the spirit behind the slogan “Two Nations, One Future.”
Turkiye was among the first countries to strongly condemn the Indian strikes and express solidarity with Pakistan. In a significant move, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a phone call with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, denouncing India’s aggression and voicing unequivocal support for Pakistan’s sovereignty. He assured that Turkiye stands by Pakistan and is ready to extend all possible support.
The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a strong statement, condemning India’s actions and reaffirming its solidarity with Pakistan.
Support poured in from Turkish citizens, political leaders, and members of parliament, all of whom declared Pakistan’s right to self-defense as legitimate and denounced India’s Hindutva-driven aggression. They urged the international community to pressure India to de-escalate and support peace in South Asia.
Across Turkish media and society, there is a growing wave of public solidarity with Pakistan reinforcing the deep and historic brotherhood between the two nations.
In this hour of difficulty, Turkiye has once again proven that it stands firmly beside its brother nation, Pakistan.
