Türkiye’s AK Party Strengthens Ties with Post-Assad Syria

In a landmark visit, Zafer Sırakaya, Deputy Chair of Türkiye’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party), traveled to Syria’s Idlib and Aleppo to discuss rebuilding efforts and fostering peace in the region.

Sırakaya, who also oversees the AK Party’s foreign affairs, met with Idlib Governor Mohammad Abdul Rahman and other Syrian officials, emphasizing Türkiye’s commitment to supporting Syria’s recovery and stability.

Türkiye, among the first nations to establish ties with Syria’s new administration after the fall of the Baathist regime, has pledged continued diplomatic and humanitarian efforts.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reaffirmed Türkiye’s dedication to aiding Syria in forming an inclusive government, drafting a new constitution, and advancing infrastructure development.

Sırakaya highlighted Türkiye’s policy of zero tolerance toward terrorist groups and its intent to collaborate with Arab nations to enhance international aid delivery and reconstruction.

The visit underscores Türkiye’s role as a key player in restoring regional stability and fostering bilateral relations with its neighbor.
