Turkiye to Take Practical Steps for Long-Term Ceasefire Agreement in Gaza: Hakan Fidan

Turkiye’s Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, stated during a joint press conference in Baku with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov, that Turkiye will closely monitor efforts to establish a permanent ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, as well as ensure the continuous delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Minister Fidan emphasized the importance of stopping the 15-month-long bloodshed, asserting that Turkiye’s focus is to open humanitarian corridors in Gaza so displaced Palestinians can return to their homes.

He expressed hope that a lasting solution will emerge between the two states, bringing peace to the region.

Referring to the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, Fidan called it a positive step and assured that Turkiye would take concrete measures to make the ceasefire permanent and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Bayramov hailed the ceasefire as a significant event and expressed hope that all parties would uphold the agreement.

He reiterated that Turkiye and Azerbaijan are fully prepared to cooperate in achieving peace in the region.

Fidan also added that Turkiye and Azerbaijan will jointly advance global diplomacy to ensure Syria plays an important role on the international stage, cooperating with the new administration.
