Türkiye’s Head of Communications, Fahrettin Altun, has harshly criticized The Economist for distorting facts regarding ongoing legal cases in Türkiye, accusing the magazine of targeting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
In a post on his official X account, Altun stated that the publication was “daring” to distort legal matters handled by Türkiye’s independent judiciary.
He highlighted the magazine’s silence on Israel’s actions in Gaza, calling out its one-sided stance on the situation.
Altun also pointed to what he perceived as a coordinated effort to damage Türkiye’s globally successful TV series industry.
According to him, this is part of a broader political operation aimed at undermining Türkiye.
He characterized this as a continuation of global plots against the nation.
Reaffirming Türkiye’s commitment to its development goals, Altun emphasized that under President Erdogan’s leadership, Türkiye would remain focused on becoming a “strong and prosperous” nation despite external challenges.
Altun further criticized the misuse of public funds, noting that some metropolitan municipalities in Türkiye were using taxpayer money for what he called “cheap PR operations.” He left the judgment of this issue to the Turkish people.
