Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan arrived in Malaysia on Monday for an official visit, kicking off his three-nation tour of Asia.
He was warmly welcomed at the airport by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, his wife, and other officials.
Along with Erdoğan, his wife Emine Erdoğan and several key Turkish ministers also joined the visit.
During his time in Malaysia, Erdoğan met with Sultan Nazrin Shah of Perak and received an honorary doctorate at a special ceremony.
He expressed his pleasure at returning to Malaysia after five years and praised the strong friendship between the two countries.
Erdoğan also highlighted the growing academic cooperation between Turkiye and Malaysia and thanked Malaysia for the honorary doctorate.
During his visit, Erdoğan will meet with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to discuss ways to strengthen their countries’ partnership and address the situation in Gaza.
After Malaysia, Erdoğan will continue his tour in Indonesia and Pakistan.
