Syria Reports Nearly 140,000 People Missing Amid Ongoing Conflict

Syria’s Emergency and Disasters Minister Raid Al-Saleh announced that around 140,000 people remain missing in the country, according to human rights groups. He mentioned there are signs of mass graves, though no official count exists.

The minister also confirmed that the rescue group known as the White Helmets has been integrated into the Emergency and Disasters Ministry.

Since December, President Bashar al-Assad has been in Russia after fleeing, ending his nearly 25-year rule. Ahmed al-Sharaa, leader of anti-regime forces, was named interim president earlier this year.
