Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan inaugurated the new presidential and parliamentary complex in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). During the ceremony, he reaffirmed Turkiye’s unwavering support for the unity, sovereignty, and development of the Turkish Cypriot people.
In his speech at the inauguration, President Erdoğan stated, “Our names may be different, but when it comes to the issue of Cyprus, our family name is the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
The 86 million people of Turkiye share the same feelings and sensitivity in protecting the interests of the Turkish Cypriot people. Those who seek to obstruct the development of the Turkish Cypriot people will face Turkiye’s unparalleled solidarity.”

He emphasized that Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot people share a common future, as they have the same culture, belief, destiny, and history. “We will not allow the unity, solidarity, and brotherhood of the Turkish Cypriot people to weaken, and we will work with patience, calmness, and wisdom.”
President Erdoğan also reiterated his appeal to the international community to recognize the sovereignty of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, as he had previously done in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar, and other senior officials.
This event reflects the strong relations between Turkiye and the Turkish Cypriot people and Turkiye’s commitment to a two-state solution for the Cyprus issue.
