
Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has made significant progress in the investigation of the Mauritania boat tragedy, arresting three suspects, including a woman involved in human trafficking.
According to the FIA, a woman human trafficker and her son were arrested from a village near Gujrat, while the third suspect was apprehended from Bhimber, Azad Kashmir.
During the investigation, the woman admitted that she had been involved in human trafficking along with her three sons.
One of her sons, Khawar, had previously traveled to Senegal with 10 people as a carrier before the incident.
Investigations revealed that Khawar had traveled to Senegal earlier in April 2024 as well.
One of her sons resides in Italy, while another, Farhan, has been on the run since the incident. The FIA has obtained details from the woman’s mobile and bank accounts.
The FIA has registered three cases related to the incident.
These include cases filed by the families of two brothers from Sialkot, Irfan and Arsalan, naming human trafficker Asghar as a suspect, as well as cases filed by the families of Ali Raza from Gujrat and Khawar Hassan from Gujrat.
The FIA stated that the four nominated suspects have gone into hiding, but their names have been added to the stop list.
Strict action against human trafficking continues, and more arrests related to the incident are expected soon.
