Istanbul to Host International Symposium Honoring Abdurrahman Peshawari on His 100th Death Anniversary

An international symposium commemorating the 100th death anniversary of Abdurrahman Peshawari, a key figure in Türkiye-Pakistan historical ties, will be held at Istanbul University on May 5–6, 2025.

The event is being jointly organized by Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Lahore, Istanbul University, and the Republic of Türkiye’s National Education Counsellor’s Office in Islamabad.

The opening session of the symposium will take place on May 5 at 10:00 a.m. in the Doctorate Hall of the Rectorate Building at Istanbul University.

Scholars, historians, and dignitaries from Türkiye and Pakistan are expected to participate in this academic gathering, which aims to explore the life, contributions, and enduring legacy of Abdurrahman Peshawari.

Peshawari is remembered as one of the earliest Pakistani figures to support the Turkish War of Independence and for serving in diplomatic and journalistic roles that strengthened ties between the two nations.

The symposium will highlight his contributions to Türkiye’s national struggle and the historical friendship between Pakistan and Türkiye.
