Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has officially announced his intention to run for president again.
The declaration came on January 11 during a Justice and Development Party (AK Party) provincial congress in Şanlıurfa.
In a moment that captured attention, Turkish singer İbrahim Tatlıses asked Erdogan about his plans for the next elections. Erdogan replied with conviction, “If you are there, I am.”
This announcement comes amid discussions about Erdogan’s eligibility to run again.
According to Mehmet Ucum, Erdogan’s senior adviser, legal provisions would allow him to seek another term if parliament opts for snap elections in the latter half of 2027.
