Trade Minister Ömer Bolat is set to visit Damascus for a two-day official trip, marking the most significant economic engagement between Türkiye and Syria in over a decade.
Accompanied by Turkish business leaders and heads of trade associations, Bolat will hold high-level meetings with top Syrian officials to discuss cooperation in trade, customs, transport, energy, finance, and investment.
The visit aims to boost bilateral economic ties and support Syria’s rebuilding efforts following years of conflict. Bolat’s agenda includes talks with Syria’s economy, finance and transport ministers, as well as discussions on updating customs procedures and enhancing border infrastructure.
Turkish and Syrian business representatives will also participate in a joint forum to explore new partnerships and investment opportunities.
A roadmap for a comprehensive economic agreement is expected to be discussed.
The visit follows recent progress, including Syria lowering tariffs and removing trade restrictions. Bilateral trade between the two countries is projected to grow significantly in the coming years.
