OIC Supports Arab Plan for Gaza Reconstruction

The Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) convened in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where member states expressed their support for the Arab plan for the reconstruction of Gaza.

OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha stated that they support the Arab League’s Gaza reconstruction plan, and they reject statements advocating the forced displacement of Palestinian people.

Recently, an extraordinary meeting was held in Cairo where Arab nations, led by Egypt rejected US President Donald Trump’s proposal and announced plans to present a reconstruction project for Gaza that respects Palestinian rights and ensures their continued presence on their land.

The Arab plan involves a proposed $53 billion, five-year initiative to build millions of homes, a commercial port, and an airport, alongside efforts for elections in Palestinian territories and a two-state solution.

It is important to note that the plan presented by President Trump suggested relocating Palestinians from Gaza to other countries, a proposal that was widely rejected by the Arab nations.
