Washington — The US State Department has officially approved the sale of a $179 million Patriot air defense system to Ukraine, aimed at strengthening Kyiv’s defense capabilities against Russian missile and drone attacks.
The system will help Ukraine counter ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and UAV threats more effectively. Officials said the deal also supports NATO’s collective security and stability in Eastern Europe.
Meanwhile, Russia has once again criticized Western arms supplies to Ukraine, calling them an act that only prolongs the war.
