UNHCR Expresses Concern Over Human Rights Violations in India

The United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHCR) has raised concerns about human rights violations in India, highlighting issues in both occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the Indian state of Manipur.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, expressed particular concern over the situation in occupied Kashmir, stressing the need for urgent action to address the harassment of journalists and human rights activists.

Türk also called for dialogue to resolve the ongoing violence and displacement issues in Manipur.

In his statement, Volker Türk noted that there are over 20 ongoing conflicts worldwide, with Kashmir being one of the most pressing.
