Ukraine’s delegation reached Istanbul to begin the second round of direct negotiations with Russia, as confirmed by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry. These peace talks are being held at the historic Ciragan Palace.
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov is once again leading the Ukrainian side, following his role in the previous talks on May 16. That earlier meeting successfully produced an agreement on a major prisoner exchange 1,000 detainees from each side were included.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry is playing a key role in hosting the negotiations, underscoring Türkiye’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to mediate in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
As both parties reconvene, international attention is focused on whether further progress can be achieved in easing the conflict.
