U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken revealed in his latest press conference that Washington sought assistance from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to bring Hamas back to the ceasefire negotiation table.
Speaking to reporters, Blinken stated, “We requested President Erdoğan to leverage his influence in bringing Hamas back to negotiations, after which Hamas returned to the table.”
He added that during his visit to Türkiye last December, he held discussions with President Erdoğan and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on the matter.
According to a White House spokesperson, the U.S. has been actively engaging with Türkiye, Egypt, and Qatar to broker a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Gaza.
