Türkiye’s flower and ornamental plant exports flourished in 2024, reaching $141 million, with the Netherlands and the U.K. topping the list of buyers, according to sector officials.

The country, known for its vast variety of over 3,500 plant species, continues to be a leading exporter of cut flowers, indoor and outdoor plants, flower bulbs, seedlings, saplings, and mosses.

The Turkish Ornamental Plants and Products Exporters’ Association’s chairman, İsmail Yılmaz, revealed that Türkiye’s flourishing flower industry spans 6,000 hectares across the country, with 1,200 hectares dedicated to cut flower production. Antalya stands out as the key center for carnation production, the sector’s flagship product, thriving on 700 hectares.

The country’s green industry supports over 60,000 jobs, with the total workforce across the entire supply chain reaching an impressive 300,000.

With a 2% increase in flower exports compared to 2023, Türkiye continues to grow its market share.

In addition to established markets like Germany, Romania, and Bulgaria, Turkish flowers are gaining demand in Turkic nations and the Gulf region, contributing to the sector’s expanding global presence.
