The Turkish Red Crescent, committed to supporting those in need globally, reached 46 million people in 2024 with the crucial help of 1,022,927 donors.
According to Fatma Meriç Yılmaz, President of the Turkish Red Crescent, 2024 was one of the busiest years, especially after the devastating February 6, 2023 earthquake. “Our goal is to bridge the gap between the state and the people.
In 2024, we maintained a consistent presence in earthquake-affected areas and worked to strengthen the region through support for businesses, farmers, cash assistance, and socio-economic projects,” Yılmaz stated.
Throughout the year, 3.3 billion Turkish Lira ($118.8 million) in cash aid was provided to earthquake-hit regions. Additionally, 450 million Turkish Lira was distributed to 8,700 business owners and farmers.
The number of social markets increased to 45, while Red Crescent boutiques expanded to 178 across the country.
The organization supported 33 million people within Turkey and 13 million people internationally, benefiting a total of 46 million individuals.
Yılmaz emphasized the importance of donors and volunteers, saying, “Thanks to their support, we have created countless stories of kindness and humanity.”
She further announced that the organization’s Ramadan and Qurbani programs would continue, alongside further strengthening social and educational initiatives.
Looking ahead, the Turkish Red Crescent is determined to expand its relief efforts in 2025, ensuring more effective outreach to those in need.
