Turkish President Erdogan’s Visit to Pakistan Strengthens Bilateral Relations

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is set to visit Pakistan from February 12-13, 2025, following his visits to Malaysia and Indonesia.

On the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Erdogan will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers, senior officials, and corporate leaders.

The visit will include significant discussions between the two leaders, with the highlight being the 7th Session of the Pakistan-Turkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC).

During this session, several important agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed, further deepening the strategic ties between the two countries.

At the end of the session, both leaders will address a joint press conference to highlight the progress made during the talks.

Apart from bilateral meetings with Prime Minister Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari, President Erdogan will also co-chair the Pakistan-Turkiye Business and Investment Forum alongside Prime Minister Sharif.

The forum will bring together key investors, companies, and business leaders from both nations to explore new opportunities for economic collaboration.

The HLSCC, established as the highest decision-making forum between the two nations, continues to play a vital role in guiding strategic partnerships across various sectors such as defense, trade, energy, agriculture, health, and technology.

Notably, the defense cooperation between Pakistan and Turkiye has strengthened in recent years, with Pakistan becoming the first country to purchase warships from Turkiye under the MILGEM project.

The two countries are also working together on advanced military technologies, including drones and fighter jets, with Pakistan moving forward with the joint production of the TF-X fifth-generation fighter jet.

The visit and the HLSCC session will serve to solidify Pakistan and Turkiye’s historic fraternal ties, further expanding their multifaceted cooperation.

Discussions during the visit will also include critical regional and international issues, such as the situation in Gaza and other Middle Eastern concerns.

This visit marks another important milestone in the ongoing partnership between Pakistan and Turkiye, demonstrating their shared commitment to mutual growth, security, and a peaceful future for the region.
