Turkish Airlines to Launch Flights to New Zealand

Turkish Airlines has announced plans to expand its network to New Zealand, following the recent launch of flights to Sydney, Australia.

The airline’s chief commercial officer, Ahmet Olmuştur, has held talks in New Zealand to finalize the plans.

Although the exact launch date has not been confirmed, it is expected to be later than 2025. Turkish Airlines is also working to add a new destination in China to its network.

The airline’s expansion plans come despite challenges with plane deliveries and engine issues, which have resulted in at least 35 aircraft being grounded. However, Turkish Airlines remains committed to its 10% growth target.

In the first nine months of 2024, Turkish Airlines reported a net income of $2.7 billion and revenues of $17.01 billion, with a 1.3% increase in passenger numbers to 72.2 million.
