TİKA Strengthening Pakistan’s Disaster Response Capacity, Says Saliha Tuna


Rescue 1122 in AJK Provided Modern Training and Equipment for Flood Relief
Islamabad— Türkiye’s development and aid agency TİKA has taken a significant step to enhance Pakistan’s disaster management capacity. In flood-affected areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, TİKA has provided Rescue 1122 with advanced equipment and specialized training.
Under the project, personnel received training in basic life support and search-and-rescue operations, while rescue teams were equipped with state-of-the-art tools including motorbike ambulances, search-and-rescue motorbikes, rescue boats, drones, thermal cameras, night-vision goggles, search-and-rescue kits, and first aid supplies.
Speaking on the occasion, TİKA’s Country Head in Pakistan, Saliha Tuna, said that Türkiye has always stood by the people of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. She emphasized that enhancing the capacity of rescue and emergency services during natural disasters is a pressing need of the time, and TİKA will continue to support Pakistan’s institutions in this regard.
She further noted that concrete steps are being taken to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood between Türkiye and Pakistan, assuring that the people of Pakistan will never be left alone in difficult times.
