Damascus / Moscow:
Syrian Interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa is set to make his first official visit to Moscow on Wednesday, where he plans to formally request the extradition of former ruler Bashar al-Assad, according to a senior government official.
“President Sharaa will ask the Russian leadership to hand over all individuals accused of committing war crimes who are currently residing in Russia — foremost among them, Bashar al-Assad,” the official confirmed.
The visit marks a significant diplomatic move by the new Syrian administration, which has vowed to pursue accountability for atrocities committed during the country’s decade-long conflict.
