Russia’s Consul General in Karachi, Andrei Viktorovich Fedorov, praised Pakistan’s initiative in hosting the “Peace 2025” global exercises, which carry the powerful theme of “Unity for Peace.”
Fedorov emphasized that this slogan is a reflection of the path humanity must adopt for global stability and peace.
Highlighting the significance of the event, Fedorov pointed out that the friendly atmosphere, exceptional hospitality, and respect shown to all participants were crucial in making the exercises meaningful.
He noted that the security of vital communication routes and maritime safety plays a fundamental role in the economic progress of nations, making it essential for countries to focus on maritime security for global stability.
Fedorov also discussed the emerging global threats, particularly those related to terrorism, which have evolved with rapidly changing geopolitical and technological landscapes.
He commended Pakistan’s efforts to build a global maritime security system, acknowledging that Russia is not only grateful for these efforts but fully supports them, considering them crucial for international peace.
Reflecting on the strengthening of Pakistan-Russia relations, Fedorov shared his satisfaction with the growing cooperation, especially in defense matters.
He noted that the joint military exercises and personnel exchanges between both countries are significantly enhancing their ability to tackle emerging security challenges, with a special focus on counterterrorism.
Fedorov also stressed the importance of collaboration within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to combat terrorism.
He acknowledged that criminal groups are using regions like Central Asia, Afghanistan, and Pakistan to further their malicious activities, which necessitates joint efforts to tackle these challenges.
The SCO’s existing anti-terrorism framework, Fedorov stated, is already proving successful, with member countries sharing valuable information to strengthen global security.
Furthermore, Fedorov revealed that Russia has long been advocating for the establishment of a joint center to address new threats such as terrorism, drug trafficking, and human trafficking.
He expressed hope that this project would come to fruition later this year, contributing to greater regional and international security cooperation.
