Russia Claims to Have Intercepted 70 Ukrainian Drones Overnight, No Casualties Reported

Russian defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed 70 Ukrainian drones overnight, according to a statement from Russia’s Ministry of Defense on February 3, 2025.

The drones were reportedly shot down across multiple regions, including Rostov, Volgograd, Astrakhan, Voronezh, Belgorod, and Kursk.

In Volgograd, Governor Andrey Bocharov described the incident as a “massive attack” involving fixed-wing drones.

While most of the drones were intercepted, some debris from the downed UAVs caused small fires at an oil refinery.

Fortunately, the fires were quickly contained, and no casualties were reported.

There were also brief power fluctuations in the regional grid, but Bocharov confirmed that electricity remained fully operational in Volgograd and surrounding municipalities.

Ukrainian authorities have yet to respond to the claims made by Russia.
