Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has granted full authority to Pakistan’s Armed Forces to determine the time, place, and manner of any retaliatory action against India.
The announcement came during an emergency session of the National Security Committee (NSC), held in response to what the government termed as “unprovoked and illegal aggression” by India.
The high-level meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister and attended by senior ministers and military leadership, focused on the overnight missile, drone, and air strikes reportedly carried out by India targeting civilian areas in Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
According to the official statement, Pakistan retains its inherent right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter, and will respond accordingly. The NSC’s decision to authorize the military reflects the seriousness of the current threat and signals a heightened state of readiness.
“The Armed Forces are fully empowered to take action as they see fit,” said a government spokesperson. “This delegation of authority ensures a swift and strategic response to any further provocation.”
