Pakistan’s first electro-optical satellite (EO-One), developed by the country’s National Space Agency, SUPARCO, has been successfully launched into space from China’s Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the satellite will provide significant services in various areas, including crop monitoring, urban development, and other key sectors.
It will also provide critical information on floods, earthquakes, deforestation, and natural resource discovery.
A spokesperson for SUPARCO described the successful launch as a crucial step towards self-reliance in space research.
The satellite will play a pivotal role in monitoring natural resources, disaster management, agricultural development, and urban planning.
Besides crop production forecasting, the satellite will offer timely information during disasters such as floods, earthquakes, and landslides, as well as infrastructure monitoring.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif called the successful launch a moment of national pride, congratulating SUPARCO and its engineers and scientists.
He stated that this satellite is proof of Pakistan’s growing capabilities in space science and technology.
He also emphasized that it will be vital for agriculture, urban development, and disaster management, providing a valuable resource for development and decision-making.
