Pakistani Missile Strikes Forced India Into Ceasefire Talks, Says U.S Journalist

A senior U.S journalist has revealed behind-the-scenes details of how Pakistan’s military response compelled India to retreat and agree to a ceasefire. Nick Robertson, CNN’s International Diplomatic Editor, stated in a recent interview that several days of global diplomatic efforts had failed to calm rising tensions between the two nuclear powers until Pakistan launched a powerful counterstrike.

According to Robertson, the turning point came after India attacked Pakistani airbases, prompting Pakistan to unleash a fierce wave of missile attacks targeting critical Indian military infrastructure. He emphasized that these strikes forced India to come to the negotiating table.

Robertson further revealed that U.S. Secretary of State officials coordinated with Saudi and Turkish counterparts, and it was through this trilateral diplomatic effort that the ceasefire was ultimately brokered.

The Pakistani military’s response, named Operation Bunyān Marsūs (Iron Wall), involved targeted strikes on more than ten Indian locations. Among the major sites hit were Indian airbases in Adampur, Udhampur, Bathinda, Suratgarh, Mamun, Akhnoor, Jammu, Sirsa, and Barnala. Pakistan also destroyed strategic supply depots and airfields in Uri, Sirsa, and Halwara.

A major highlight of the operation was the destruction of India’s advanced S-400 air defense system, reportedly worth $1.5 billion, in Adampur. This was achieved using a hypersonic missile launched by a JF-17 Thunder aircraft. The Pakistan Army has since released footage of the missile-equipped fighter jet.

Pakistan used its homegrown Fatah-1 missile system to target and neutralize multiple Indian military assets. Following this powerful demonstration of force, both countries agreed to a ceasefire, de-escalating one of the region’s most serious military standoffs in years.
