Türkiye is looking to significantly boost its flour exports to Syria in 2025, aiming to ship over 400,000 tons of flour to the country.
As the world’s leading supplier of flour, with exports exceeding 3 million tons in 2024, Türkiye has remained a crucial flour provider for Syria, especially throughout the civil war.
Eren Gunhan Ulusoy, the Eurasia director of the International Association of Operative Millers (IAOM), stated that Syria’s proximity to Türkiye, particularly regions like Idlib and Raqqa, has made it a key export area.
While trade has varied due to shifting geopolitical conditions, Syria is expected to remain an important market for Türkiye in the years ahead.
Increased exports are part of Türkiye’s broader strategy to boost trade and also support Syria’s recovery efforts.
Flour exports to Syria grew from 267,000 tons in 2023 to 326,000 tons in 2024, and the sector is poised for continued growth.
