Omar Abdullah, the Chief Minister of Indian Administered Kashmir, has said that while no one in the region wants a war between India and Pakistan, the responsibility for escalating tensions lies with Pakistan.
In an interview with Indian news agency ANI, Abdullah defended the recent Indian Air Force strikes on locations in Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He said the Indian government took the right approach in delivering a measured response to last month’s Pahalgam attacks. According to him, India specifically targeted terrorist hideouts, avoiding any military or civilian areas.
He contrasted this with Pakistan’s retaliation, claiming that Pakistan struck civilian areas during its response.
Abdullah reassured residents in the region, stating that there is no need to panic or evacuate, and that the administration has ensured sufficient stocks of essential supplies in case of any crisis.
