May 7 Dogfight: Pakistan Clinches Decisive Victory in Largest Aerial Battle of Modern Era

In what analysts are calling the “Tactical Masterclass of the East,” Pakistan secured a stunning victory on May 7 in the largest aerial battle witnessed in modern military history. The 59-minute-long high-intensity air engagement between Pakistan and India involved over 100 fighter aircraft and has drawn global attention for its scale, strategy, and outcome.

India launched its elite “Strategic Squadron” featuring Rafale jets, Su-30MKI, and MiG-29s in a bold move to penetrate Pakistani airspace and establish aerial superiority. In a rapid and coordinated response, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) deployed JF-17 Block 3s, F-16 Falcons, and advanced missile systems to intercept and counter the incursion.

PAF pilots expertly maneuvered Indian jets into a Beyond Visual Range (BVR) kill zone, shooting down five enemy aircraft: three Rafales, one Su-30MKI, and one MiG-29. This marks the first combat loss of India’s Rafales aircraft previously hailed as game-changers in South Asia.

Military observers noted Pakistan’s effective use of electronic warfare, radar jamming, and countermeasures that neutralized Indian systems. International defense experts have praised Pakistan’s strategy, comparing it to the most iconic air battles of the Cold War.

The ripple effects were even felt in global markets, with shares of the French manufacturer of the Rafale jets reportedly plunging by 18% following the defeat.

Strategists and citizens alike have hailed the operation as not only a military success but a moment of national pride demonstrating Pakistan’s preparedness, technological strength, and strategic discipline in modern warfare.
