Loralai District of Pakistan Wins Silver Medal at World’s Largest Olive Oil Competition

Pakistan’s Loralai district in Balochistan has made history as its locally produced olive oil won a silver medal at the world’s largest olive oil competition the New York International Olive Oil Competition (NYIOOC).

Among more than 1,200 global brands participating, Loralai Olives stood out with its exceptional quality and earned international recognition. This achievement highlights the presence of world-class standards in Pakistan’s olive oil industry.

The award-winning olive oil was produced from the Arbequina variety grown in the fields of Loralai. CEO of Loralai Olives, Shaukat Rasool, expressed pride in representing Pakistan on the global stage, saying that this success is proof that Pakistan can produce internationally competitive olive oil. Notably, Loralai Olives has become South Asia’s first brand to win this honor.

According to Abdul Jabbar, the owner of the olive farm, this milestone is the result of years of hard work. His 30-acre farm produced over 9,000 liters of olive oil last year, generating significant profits. Olive trees thrive even under harsh climatic conditions and require less water, making them ideal for Balochistan’s environment.

Experts state that Balochistan is a highly suitable region for olive cultivation, with its soil and climate offering ideal conditions. Compared to other regions, olive trees in Balochistan yield significantly more oil.

In some areas, 100 kilograms of olives produce up to 30 liters of oil, which is nearly double the yield achieved in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
