Maritime traffic in the Istanbul Strait resumed on Wednesday at 12:40 local time (09:40 GMT) after a temporary closure due to heavy fog in the northern parts of the city.
The Turkish Coastal Safety Directorate had announced the closure of the strait in both directions at 3:45 a.m. local time (00:45 GMT) due to reduced visibility.
The Istanbul Strait, which connects the Black Sea to the Sea of Marmara, is a critical waterway for international trade and navigation.
The closure had likely caused delays and disruptions to maritime traffic, but the resumption of traffic has restored normal operations.
