Israeli MK Ahmad Tibi Criticizes Delay in Hostage Deal Approval

Hadash-Ta’al MK Ahmad Tibi has criticized the Israeli government for taking months to approve a hostage exchange deal that closely resembles one proposed in May 2024.

Tibi, reacting to reports that the current deal largely mirrors the May proposal, expressed frustration over the lengthy delay, writing on X in both English and Hebrew, “The May 2024 agreement was ratified on January 2025.”

Tibi’s criticism highlights the prolonged approval process, which has kept the agreement in limbo for several months despite its already established framework.

The deal, which involves a ceasefire and a prisoner exchange between Israel and Hamas, is expected to be a significant step toward easing tensions in the region.

While Tibi and others have questioned the delay, many are hopeful that the implementation of the agreement will help address the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
