Israeli Airstrikes Target Syria’s Port City of Tartus, No Casualties Reported

Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes late Monday on the port city of Tartus in western Syria. According to Syrian state news agency SANA, the strikes did not result in any casualties.

SANA reported that civil defense teams and specialized units are working to verify the exact locations of the airstrikes.

The Israeli military confirmed that the strikes targeted a military site in the town of Al Qardaha in Latakia province in northwestern Syria.

Israel stated that the site was being used to store weapons belonging to the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The Israeli military emphasized that the strike was carried out due to recent developments in the region, but no further details were provided.

The Israeli army added that it would continue to monitor developments in the area and take necessary action to defend Israeli citizens.

The Israeli Defense Ministry has previously warned that any attempt by Syrian forces to establish a presence in southern Syria’s security zone would be met with military force, though the Syrian government has consistently denied posing any threat to the region.
