In an official statement, India’s Ministry of Defence claimed that its armed forces successfully neutralized air defence radars and systems inside Pakistan. The operation was reportedly conducted in retaliation to alleged drone and missile attacks by Pakistan on military installations in northern and western India the previous night.
According to the statement, on the night of May 7–8, Pakistan attempted to target military positions in Awantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, and Amritsar. These attempts, however, were intercepted and foiled by India’s “Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and Air Defence Systems.” India also claimed to have recovered debris from these alleged attacks at several locations.
The Ministry further stated that the Indian Armed Forces launched precise strikes on multiple air defence positions in Pakistan this morning. Citing reliable sources, the statement confirmed that an air defence system in Lahore was successfully neutralized.
India also accused Pakistan of escalating unprovoked shelling across the Line of Control (LoC), involving mortars and heavy artillery. According to Indian officials, this has resulted in the deaths of sixteen civilians, including three women and five children.
