FIRST-EVER BALLISTIC MISSILE INTERCEPTION TEST FROM GUAM CONDUCTS BY US SUCCESSFULLY

In a significant milestone, the United States has successfully conducted its first-ever ballistic missile interception test from Guam, showcasing its growing defense capabilities in the Pacific.

The test, which took place on December 10, involved the launch of a target missile, simulating a medium-range ballistic missile threat, which was then intercepted by a Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) Block IIA launched from the Aegis Guam System.

This achievement highlights the critical role that Guam, a US territory in the Pacific, could play in any potential conflict in the region.

The island is home to several key Air Force and Navy facilities, and the US plans to establish missile defenses at 16 sites around the island over the next decade.

The successful test is a testament to the US military’s growing preparedness against emerging threats in the region.

The Guam Defense System (GDS), which is currently under development, will provide a layered defense network designed to protect against multiple simultaneous threats.
