European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is set to visit Türkiye to discuss the latest developments in Syria with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The meeting comes after a phone call between the two leaders, where they had a “substantial exchange” on Syria. Von der Leyen emphasized the importance of preserving Syria’s territorial integrity and protecting minorities.
The visit is expected to take place early next week, amidst a significant development in the region. Syrians residing in Türkiye have been rushing to key border crossings to return to their country, following the ouster of Assad.
