Erdogan Proposes Peace Summit in Türkiye for Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has proposed hosting a high-level peace summit in Türkiye, aiming to bring together Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and even U.S President Donald Trump. He expressed a desire to make Istanbul or Ankara a “center of peace.”

Speaking after a cabinet meeting, Erdogan highlighted recent progress in peace efforts, including a major prisoner exchange and repatriation of bodies between Russia and Ukraine. He called the talks in Istanbul a “significant achievement.”

Erdogan reiterated Türkiye’s neutral stance in the conflict, emphasizing that the country seeks an end to war and oppression through diplomacy. He also welcomed steps toward Syrian stability, including the lifting of sanctions and the resumption of flights between Syria and Türkiye.
