Disagreement with Afghanistan Solely on Terrorism, Desires for Brotherly Relations Pakistan Army Chief

Pakistan Army Chief, General Asim Munir, reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to fostering brotherly relations with Afghanistan, emphasizing that the only area of disagreement lies in cross-border terrorism and the presence of Khawarij (militants) on Afghan soil.

Speaking with political leaders from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, General Asim Munir described Afghanistan as a “brotherly Islamic nation” with which Pakistan seeks harmonious ties.

However, he clarified that this objective remains hindered by the lack of action against terrorism originating from Afghanistan.

He noted, “Until Afghanistan resolves these issues, this disagreement will persist.” He further highlighted that there is no need for large-scale military operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Instead, intelligence-based targeted actions are being conducted, ensuring that no region of Pakistan is under terrorist control.

The Army Chief stressed the importance of unity among political parties in the fight against terrorism, stating, “The survival of the state is the foundation of politics.

All parties must come together to combat this menace.” He referred to the Quranic principle that creating disorder on Earth (fasad fil ardh) is a grave sin and urged collective action to address this challenge.

General Asim Munir also emphasized learning from past mistakes and the necessity of acknowledging errors to avoid further damage.

He warned against the influence of false narratives propagated by external forces attempting to weaken the bond between the people and the army.

Discussing the National Action Plan (NAP), he termed it a comprehensive and consensus-based strategy created by all political parties. He urged its swift and effective implementation, calling it a pressing need for national security and stability.

The Army Chief’s remarks come amid rising concerns over cross-border terrorism and highlight the army’s commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and stability.
