Islamabad — A major breakthrough is expected in Pakistan’s transport sector as China’s state-owned transportation company, Guangzhou Metro Group, has offered cooperation to Pakistan in launching a bullet train project.
Under this plan, travel from Lahore to Karachi could be completed in just 4 to 5 hours.
According to sources, Guangzhou Metro Group, in its initial proposal, assured Pakistan of assistance in modernizing its railway network and transferring high-speed rail technology. The project would not only upgrade railway infrastructure but also include modern stations and advanced safety systems.
Experts believe that if this project materializes, it will bring about a revolution in Pakistan’s travel system, give a new boost to the economy, and accelerate business and trade activities.
The Government of Pakistan is reviewing the Chinese company’s proposal, and initial consultations are underway with the Ministry of Railways and other concerned institutions.
