Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s Meeting with First Lady of Turkiye, Emine Erdoğan

Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, warmly welcomed the First Lady of Turkiye, Emine Erdoğan, in Islamabad.

During this meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif thanked the First Lady of Turkiye for her visit to Pakistan and welcomed her to the country.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif participated in the “Circular Economy” event under the Pakistan-Turkiye Partnership for Sustainability during the occasion.

The Chief Minister stated that the “Clean Punjab Program” is a revolutionary project that sets the direction for Punjab’s future and aims to make the province clean according to international standards.

The Chief Minister emphasized, “This is not just a policy but a vision, designed to elevate cleanliness standards across Punjab.”

She further added, “The people of Punjab also deserve to live in cities that are as clean and beautiful as those in developed nations, and through this program, we will create a clean, green, and developed Punjab.”

Clean Punjab Program
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, “Through the ‘Clean Punjab’ program, we have made historic progress in waste management using modern technology.” Punjab produces 57,000 tons of waste daily, and to address this challenge, the world’s largest “Door-to-Door Waste Collection” mechanism has been introduced in Lahore.

She stated, “This program will not only create job opportunities but will also stabilize the provincial economy, while improving environmental protection.”

Importance of the Meeting
Maryam Nawaz Sharif praised Turkey’s waste management model, saying, “Thanks to Turkiye’s model, we have established an effective and sustainable waste management system in Punjab. I am grateful to Mrs. Emine Erdoğan for introducing us to international best practices.”

The Chief Minister stressed that the “Clean Punjab” program is not limited to street cleaning but is a comprehensive environmental, economic, and health improvement initiative that will be successfully implemented in Punjab, especially in Lahore.

Commitment and Future Goals
Maryam Nawaz Sharif stated, “By utilizing global experiences and the latest methods in cleanliness, we will make Punjab an international model of cleanliness and development, which will boost investment and tourism.”

She concluded, “Our commitment is to make Punjab one of the cleanest, greenest, and most developed regions in the world.”
