Azerbaijani President İlham Aliyev has emphasized the strength of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan alliance, highlighting shared goals and mutual support as the two nations navigate significant changes in the Middle East, particularly in Syria.
In a January 7 interview, Aliyev reaffirmed that Türkiye’s gains directly benefit Azerbaijan, stating, “Our security, interests, and future are interconnected.
A new reality has emerged in the Middle East, and Türkiye’s robust presence is the principal driving force. We firmly stand alongside Türkiye.”
Aliyev praised Türkiye’s leadership in facilitating the first humanitarian aid convoy to Syria following the December 2024 ousting of the Bashar al-Assad regime.
He also commended Türkiye’s logistical support for Azerbaijani initiatives, including the dispatch of a Foreign Ministry delegation to Syria.
Addressing terrorism concerns, Aliyev expressed support for Türkiye’s efforts to eradicate PKK/YPG threats along its borders.
“Türkiye, having long suffered from PKK terrorism, rightfully demands its elimination and is achieving concrete results,” he remarked.
Aliyev also acknowledged Türkiye’s pivotal role in Syria’s reconstruction, expressing satisfaction with its engagement with the newly established Syrian government and its contributions to regional stability.
The Türkiye-Azerbaijan alliance continues to set an example of regional cooperation, demonstrating resilience and unity in addressing global challenges.
