The long-awaited negotiations between the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the government have finally commenced.
The first meeting between the two committees took place at the Parliament House in Islamabad, marking a new era of dialogue in Pakistan’s politics.
The government committee, comprising seven members, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, PM’s political aide Rana Sanaullah, and Senator Irfan Siddiqui, met with the PTI’s three-member committee, led by former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser.
The talks are aimed at resolving the prevailing political tensions and finding a way forward for the country.
The PTI has been demanding the release of its workers and supporters from prisons, as well as a judicial inquiry into the events of May 9 and November 26.
According to sources, the meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere, with both sides showing a willingness to engage in constructive dialogue. The government committee was chaired by National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, who expressed his gratitude to both sides for forming committees to discuss the country’s problems.
The development is seen as a positive step towards defusing the political tensions that have gripped the country in recent months.
The negotiations are expected to continue in the coming days, with both sides working towards finding a mutually acceptable solution.
