Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Hails Military Response, Thanks Global Allies for Ceasefire Support

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a strongly worded address to the nation, commended the Pakistan Armed Forces for their swift and resolute response to recent Indian military aggression, declaring that Pakistan acted “in a manner befitting a dignified nation.”

Referring to the armed confrontation that erupted following India’s missile strikes on Pakistani territory, the Prime Minister said, “Pakistan’s falcons silenced the Indian army’s cannons within hours in a way that history will always remember.”

The statement comes amid heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors after a deadly militant attack in Indian-administered Kashmir sparked a series of retaliatory military actions.

During his televised address, Sharif also extended heartfelt gratitude to several world leaders who played key roles in diplomatic efforts to achieve a ceasefire. He named former U.S President Donald Trump, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan among those who offered significant support.

“The United States, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Türkiye, Qatar, the United Kingdom, and other friendly countries played an instrumental role in encouraging restraint and facilitating dialogue,” said the Prime Minister.

Highlighting Pakistan’s enduring strategic partnership with China, Sharif added, “If I do not especially thank China, today’s speech will remain incomplete. In Pakistan’s 78-year history, China has stood firmly by our side in every difficult moment.”

Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated rapidly after New Delhi launched missile strikes, claiming to target terrorist infrastructure across the Line of Control. Pakistan responded forcefully, claiming to have destroyed key Indian positions and downed several aircraft.

International calls for de-escalation led to a brokered ceasefire, though sporadic violations continue to be reported. Prime Minister Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace but warned that continued Indian provocations would be met with firm resistance.

“We are a peaceful nation, but not at the cost of our sovereignty. Our response has made it clear Pakistan will never compromise on its dignity or territorial integrity,” he stated.

Global observers remain cautiously optimistic as diplomatic channels remain active. However, analysts warn that without long-term engagement on the Kashmir issue, the region remains vulnerable to further flare-ups.
