Türkiye condemns Indian attack backs Pakistan sovereignty urges regional peace and restraint

According to a statement issued by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan expressed deep concern over the recent developments between Pakistan and India, stating, “We are viewing the recent developments between Pakistan and India with concern.”

He added, “The attack carried out by India on the night of May 6 has increased the risk of war in the region. We strongly condemn such provocative actions that target civilians and civilian infrastructure.”

“We urge both countries to exercise restraint and avoid any kind of unilateral actions. We hope that immediate steps will be taken to reduce tensions in the region, and mechanisms including in the fight against terrorism will be established to prevent such incidents in the future. We fully support Pakistan’s demand for a transparent investigation into the April 22 terrorist attack.”

Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan had a telephonic conversation with his Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar, during which he expressed Türkiye’s full solidarity with Pakistan over India’s unprovoked aggression, violation of sovereignty, and the martyrdom of innocent civilians.

Both foreign ministers agreed to stay in close contact given the seriousness of the situation to ensure peace and stability in the region.
