Pakistan Convenes Emergency NSC Meeting Following Indian Strikes, Authorizes Retaliation

In a dramatic escalation of regional tensions, an emergency session of Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC) was held at the Prime Minister’s House following what the government has described as “unprovoked and illegal aggression” by India.

Chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the high-level meeting was attended by senior federal ministers and top military leadership. Officials were briefed on the evolving security situation in the wake of India’s overnight missile, drone, and air strikes, which reportedly targeted civilian areas in Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir.

The NSC condemned the attacks, calling them a blatant violation of international law and Pakistan’s sovereignty. In response, the committee authorized the country’s armed forces to take “retaliatory measures” in line with Pakistan’s inherent right to self-defence, as recognized under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.

“This act of aggression will not go unanswered,” a government spokesperson said, adding that the safety and dignity of the nation will be upheld at all costs. The Prime Minister emphasized unity and resilience, urging the international community to take notice of India’s destabilizing actions.

The situation remains tense, with both military and diplomatic channels on high alert.
