Pakistani Filmmaker Mo Naqvi Earns Fourth Emmy Nomination for Netflix Docuseries

Renowned Pakistani filmmaker Mohammed Ali (Mo) Naqvi has received his fourth Emmy nomination, this time in the category of Outstanding Historical Documentary for his role as producer on the acclaimed Netflix docuseries Turning Point: The Bomb & The Cold War.

Directed by Brian Knappenberger, the nine-episode series explores the lasting effects of the Cold War and how its legacy shapes today’s global crises. The docuseries features interviews with high-profile figures including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, and ex-CIA Director Robert Gates.

Naqvi’s latest recognition adds to a distinguished career. He was the first Pakistani nominated for a Primetime Emmy in 2023 for The Accused: Damned or Devoted? and previously earned a Television Academy Honor in 2008 for his documentary Shame.

Turning Point also garnered widespread global attention, ranking third among Netflix Original Series shortly after its release.

Currently serving as Chairman of the Pakistan Academy Selection Committee and a 2025 Concordia Fellow, Naqvi said the nomination highlights the growing impact of Pakistani storytellers in reshaping historical discourse on international platforms.
