President Erdogan Officially Welcomed in Rome for Türkiye-Italy Intergovernmental Summit

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was officially welcomed by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Rome, where he is attending the Fourth Türkiye-Italy Intergovernmental Summit.

The welcoming ceremony took place at Villa Pamphili, a historic Roman venue, where the two leaders greeted each other with a handshake, posed for photos, and reviewed a ceremonial guard of honor. The event marked the formal beginning of a summit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

Following the ceremony, President Erdogan and Prime Minister Meloni held a one-on-one meeting to discuss expanding cooperation across key areas, including trade, defense, energy, and cultural exchange. Regional and global issues are also on the agenda.

The summit is expected to result in the signing of several bilateral agreements to reinforce the legal and institutional framework of Türkiye-Italy relations. A joint business forum is also planned, bringing together leading business figures from both nations to foster economic collaboration.

President Erdogan is accompanied by a high-level Turkish delegation, including Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, National Defense Minister Yasar Guler, Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacir, Trade Minister Omer Bolat, and several other senior officials and advisors.

The Fourth Intergovernmental Summit underscores the shared commitment of Türkiye and Italy to deepen strategic cooperation and maintain a strong dialogue on regional and international challenges.
