Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that Europe’s energy security is impossible without Azerbaijan and Georgia.
Speaking with Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili in Baku, Aliyev highlighted the importance of their partnership in energy and transport. Azerbaijan exports natural gas to 12 countries, including Georgia, which acts as a transit point.
Aliyev emphasized the Middle Corridor, a transport route linking Türkiye, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Central Asia, extending to China. This project aims to revive the ancient Silk Road, boosting trade and energy flow.
The leaders also discussed the growing volume of cargo passing through the region and efforts to expand this.
Aliyev stressed the need for peace and security in the South Caucasus and hoped for an end to regional conflicts.
Kavelashvili expressed confidence in further strengthening ties between Azerbaijan and Georgia, supporting each other’s sovereignty, and promoting peace in the region.
