Pakistan Condemns India’s Decision to Ban Two Kashmiri Political Organizations

Pakistan has strongly condemned the Indian authorities move to declare the ‘Awami Action Committee’ and ‘Jammu and Kashmir Ittihad-ul-Muslimeen’ as ‘Unlawful Associations’ for a period of five years.

The ‘Awami Action Committee’ is headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a well-known political and religious leader, while the ‘Jammu and Kashmir Ittihad-ul-Muslimeen’ was founded by the late Maulana Mohammad Abbas Ansari, who led the organization until his passing in 2022.

This decision marks a significant increase in the number of banned Kashmiri political parties and organizations, now totaling 16.

Pakistan sees this as part of India’s ongoing crackdown on political activities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

The move aims to silence dissent and restrict democratic freedoms, further violating the region’s rights.

Pakistan calls on India to revoke the bans, release all political prisoners, and implement the UN Security Council’s resolutions on Kashmir in good faith.
